Questions What are you hoping to learn or find out? We hope to learn what our country would be like if Kennedy was never assassinated. Would we still be having problems with our economy, war and etc. if Kennedy was never killed? We also want to learn more about his death and his famous assassination.
What impression do you get of the author based on the first page? Can you get a sense of his/her style yet?
Stephen King writes with a lot of detail and really gets you to know the characters and the situation. He writes for the long run, and that is shown in the length of his books.
In the first page alone he focuses on two characters: Harry and Mr.Epping. He tells detail through through the novel's dialogue. Some would say it is dialogue driven.
12/5/11: Fate and destiny plays a part in the book. They are trying to change an event that is almost destined to happen.Thats what we are going to find out at the end of the book. Can they really change the outcome of this event?
This theme of whether everyone has a destiny or not is similar to Forrest Gump in a way. That movie deals with that theme too.
Final thoughts on the book
12/12/11: This book overall was very good. It would definitely make a great movie because the book has 849 pages of details. I found at some points that I would trail off from the book and think about something else and at other points, I would be so intrigued in the book that when something happened to the character, I either thought that it was happening to me or that I felt some either sympathy or joy for the character. I found that once the story began, it grabbed you in and you could not stop reading it and I could read it for hours at a time, but other times I would lose interest and put the book down for a while. This books only flaw was that at one point it focused on other things besides stopping the JKF assassination which was where I started to lose interest. Overall the book was very good.
